K-beauty

Although I don’t apply all the rules of the korean skin care rutine I use the basics and I learned a lot from it.

I’m a hobby makeup artist, with my own YouTube channel (AyaCica), but it’s more of an art thing to me than makeing myself pretty. My biggest problemwas my bad skin condition. The first time when I got introduced to the Korean beauty world, was when at my favourite anime convention, MondoCon there was a seminar about the korean skin care rutine. At that time I wasn’t too much interested in korean culture, but I was determined to clear my face, so I went there and I was the creazy one, who took notes.

So there are several types of korean skin care rutines from a 5 steps one to a 14 steps one, but I’ll talk about the most common one the 10 steps skin care rutine.

Steps

  1. Oil face wash
  2. Water-based facial cleanser
  3. Exfoliating
  4. Toner
  5. Essence
  6. Serum/Ampoule
  7. Mask
  8. Eye wrinkle cream
  9. Moisturizing cream
  10. Sunscreen

The first three steps are for cleaning the face. There are these two types of cleanser, because they can wash off different things, so one is for cleaning the makeup, creams and oil based dirt, the second one is for the water based dirt, and the exfoliating is more of a mechanical cleaning.

I use only one cleanser, a 100% natural one which is ph netural and cleans everything, but I have two ways of exfoliating. First I use a face mask that I made from netural ingridients, which contains baking soda, which makes the cream rough a little and I use, rarely a face vacuum too.

After we tortured almost our skin, we have to use a toner to recover our faces ph and a essence, serum to hydrate and help the recovering of the skin.

I don’t use any of these. I use a ph netural cleanser and I already have a oily skin and my face mask that I made contains ingredients for skin recovery.

Face mask are some things that came in many shapes and forms. I use a creamy one every day and a sheet mask once a week. I love my sheet mask. I use a CBD sheet mask, but the thing that helped me to choose this mask was the fact that it was made in Korea, and I think Korea is the best when it comes to skin care. I don’t even use any non-asian sheet masks.

Eye wrinkl creams are not only against eyewrinkles, but also against puffiness and dark circles.

Well this is something that I absolutley don’t use, simply, because I don’t need it.

Hydrating is keeps the skin moist and smooth. From the seminar that i mentioned above, I learned that someones face can be oily because their skin is too dry and your body tries to fix that, and in my culture we tend to dry our skin a lot. This thing helped me to make my face not oily. This thought helped me a lot.

And the last step is sunscreen which protects you from UV. I think it is really importent in the summer, or when he sun is strong. When I was younger the UV wasn’t that bad, so I was able to not use sunscreen, but nowdays it is an essencial product of my summers.

So even if you don’t follow the steps, you can still learn important things about skin care and yourself, like I did with hydrating.
